On August 3rd Josh Shaffer was awarded a 2023 IT Director Award for his outstanding contributions to the goals of Information Technology as part of the Digital Corps’ work on the new Lifetime Learning initiative.

Shaffer started working as a full-time designer with the Digital Corps in 2016. He spends the majority of his Corps time assisting students in design-heavy projects and working on high-profile or rapid-turnaround design projects for the University.

Brandon Smith, Executive Director of the Digital Corps, boasts about Shaffer’s outstanding work ethic. “Josh has been crucially instrumental in launching the Lifetime Learning Initiative. We have been asked to make some big contributions to the launch of this program, and nobody has done more of that than Josh,” Smith said. “He had to figure out the whole process and has been efficient and professional. His work has been invaluable.”

When asked about winning the award, Shaffer said he was grateful.

“I was not expecting to win, but it felt nice to have my work recognized,” said Shaffer.

When asked what exemplary service means to Shaffer, he said, “I interpret [exemplary service] as someone who cares about their work and tries to show how passionate they are about their work — someone who will go the extra mile to do things they may not want to do, or that they love to do.”
