Ball State’s IT leadership team meets regularly to discuss topics important to the division. To keep IT employees updated about this news and information about the division, the leadership team has begun a program to post regular updates here on the IT blog. Each update will contain brief summaries of recent news, events, job postings, and other information from our various departments.

General Information Technology

In conjunction with Institutional Effectiveness from among various areas across campus, Information Technology has implemented a standardized approach for managing both personal pronouns and gender identity. For those systems that support personal pronouns, end users can have their pronoun pushed to those systems that support it. Within Self Service Banner, users have the option to set their personal pronoun and select to which system the pronouns will be published. Gender identity will not be published and only made available within Banner to a select number of users. Incoming students and new employees will set these initial values within each of the respective applications (Slate and PeopleAdmin) as they apply to the institution.

Salary increases for all IT personnel have been completed. You should receive a notification from your supervisor as to the details. The first paycheck with the increase will be issued on August 13. There will also be a lump sum payment, retroactive to July 1, in the September 10 paycheck.

IT has four available positions: a Database Administrator (ITS), an Enterprise Security Engineer, (ISS) a Project Manager (Digital Corps), and a part time Ball State Information & OCC Representative. Postings for these positions will be available soon. Please see the Ball State job postings for more information on these positions and to apply.

UTS was also able to migrate the iPads for the Ball State football team to Filewave over a couple of days, which reduced the cost per device and migrated the team to a campus-wide standard device management platform. UTS was also able to train the football team staff to manage the devices moving forward.

UTS has a new Adobe license request process for students, which will require them to request access to the Creative Cloud suite of tools at no cost at the beginning of each semester by the end of the drop/add period, via a form in ServiceNow.
