Ball State’s public television station, WIPB, has partnered with Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations and the Indiana Department of Education to create a new At-Home Learning partnership, designed to provide education resources for pre-kindergarten through grade 12 students, including free activity lessons, discussion questions, and more. The partnership’s goals are to:
- Provide assistance for parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers who have become at-home educators due to COVID-19 school closures
- Provide these resources via minimum technology requirements, so families can access it on a cell phone if that’s all they have at home
- Make it accessible to viewers who don’t have cable television
- Provide statewide access using 100% Indiana PBS stations’ coverage
- Make it easy for PBS stations to implement
Broadcast schedules and links to free activity lessons, discussion questions, grab-and-go activities and more are available at https://www.wipb.org/at-home/. For WIPB, the channel information is:
-
- WIPB At-Home Learning on 49.1 (pre-kindergarten through grade 12) — began April 6 and is linked to free educational resources from PBS LearningMedia.
- WIPB At-Home Learning on 49.2 (grades 6-12) — began March 30 and is a new five-hour block of programming from the WORLD Channel with online resources from PBS LearningMedia
The Indiana Department of Education has provided communications to inform superintendents, principals, teachers, and caregivers in their respective districts about these new educational resources. You can find additional information about the At-Home Learning Partnership in the press release from IPBS.
With offerings such as the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel, the WORLD Channel, and programs such as NOVA and Into the Outdoors, IPBS member stations are committed to ensuring that their educational programming and resources are widely accessible to students in Indiana.
