As a part of our ongoing planning and preparation for cyber-security threats, the Office of Information Security Services worked with our partners in the Office of General Counsel and the Office of Risk Management to increase clarity to our security incident response plan.

One of the recommendations was an opportunity to gain an understanding of the data breach and ransomware protocols used by IT and the Office of General Counsel.  The overall goal is to increase clarity and reduce any confusion that the Ball State security incident response team may have about how ransomware would be handled.

We also reviewed and summarized the process Information Technology uses to protect employee and student data against a ransomware attack, as well as conducting a review of our insurance providers’ coverage for that situation.
