What led you to your graduate program at BSU?

I completed my undergraduate degree at Ball State University! To me, it made sense to do my MBA at BSU too. I was offered a graduate assistantship, so that made BSU an attractive choice for continuing my education.

What was your proudest memory as a BSU grad student?

There was a semester when one of our professors had to go on an extended medical leave. Dr. Manoj Athavale asked me if I wanted to teach in the department. This opportunity allowed me to gain teaching experience in FIN 410, and that was very rewarding!

How have you been able to use your graduate degree from BSU?

After graduation, I ended up in banking, so I’ve done commercial credit analysis. Now I am a lender at The National Bank of Indianapolis. My MBA taught me to communicate well with clients who don’t always have the most sophisticated knowledge in the business field. I work mostly with small businesses, so having that in-depth knowledge to help business owners make informed decisions has been really helpful.

What advice or wisdom do you have to share with current BSU grad students?

Broadly, be open to the possibilities! When I did my graduate degree, I didn’t know I would end up in banking. I got a graduate degree, thinking that once I completed my degree, I would work in higher education. I am proud of the work I completed in graduate school while enjoying my time at BSU. I am grateful for my degree because of Ball State!
