Starting a graduate program often means juggling tuition, living costs, research expenses, possibly family commitments—and the financial stress can add up quickly. At Ball State, the Office of Student Financial Services offers a dedicated Financial Wellness program to help you build confidence with your money instead of letting it weigh on your mind.

Why Is Financial Wellness Important For Me?

1.) Graduate students often have more complex finances than undergraduate students. Financial stressors like loans, assistantships, stipends and possibly part‑time work create a financial environment unique to our population.

2.) According to Ball State’s Financial Wellness page, “Managing finances is a critical aspect of college life, as this phase often marks the beginning of financial independence.” Learning financial skills sooner rather than later can help set you up for success post-graduation.

Here’s a breakdown of what the Financial Wellness program at Ball State offers:
• Budgeting & Spending Planning
• Savings & Interest Rates
• Credit & Credit Cards Counseling
• Navigating Student Loans
• Debt Management
• Banking Needs
• Financial Well‑Being and 1:1 Financial Coaching

Financial wellness isn’t just about having more money—it’s about having control, knowledge, and confidence. At Ball State, you don’t have to navigate the financial side of grad school by yourself. Reach out, build your plan, and let your finances support—not distract—from your academic and professional goals.
