This month at Ball State Day at the Statehouse, our faculty, students, and staff from various academic colleges and organizations visited the Indiana Statehouse to show their Ball State pride and speak with their representatives. The College of Communication, Information, and Media was represented by students and faculty who worked on recent projects or are members of the CCIM Dean’s Collegian Advisory Council. Hear their experiences at the Statehouse below.

Ball State Day at the Statehouse was a fantastic experience to meet with our legislators and thank them for their support. During this event, I met J.D. Ford, the Senator for District 29. After graduation, I plan on moving to this district, so I enjoyed expressing my gratitude and excitement for becoming one of his constituents. I am especially thankful for his work in education and student/faculty success.

It was an honor to represent CCIM at the State House and see how many others are just as passionate about Ball State as I am. Being able to talk with people about my experiences here at BSU was my favorite part because they all were so interested in what I had to say, as well as invested in supporting this University.

I had the amazing chance to represent Ball State University and The College of Communication, Information and Media at the Indiana Statehouse! This was truly an unforgettable experience to be able to discuss my documentary with many alumni, people in the industry, and legislators to share my thoughts on why this project means so much to me, and why the growth of the game is such a compelling point for boys of all backgrounds. Having this chance was a wonderful networking experience and allowed me to not only share why I think Ball State immersive projects are so important, but also to speak about my goals for my career as I head out into the industry. I’m a firm believer in the idea of manifestation, and talking about all of these topics in such a powerful place was life changing. I urge any student that is presented this opportunity in the future to take part!

Being able to showcasing our original documentary, Match Point: The Rise of Men’s Volleyball, and Match Point marketing campaign at the Indiana Statehouse was an amazing opportunity! It’s a unique experience to talk with legislators and influencers from around the state about the nationwide impact that we’re having at the Department of Journalism and the Center for Emerging Media Design and Development. Ball State University and CCIM have given us amazing opportunities to develop innovative, immersive projects that have real-world results. We were so honored to represent our phenomenal institution at the Indiana Statehouse.
