This Spring, 45 BSW students completed 18,000 hours of practicum in 35 agencies, organizations, and schools throughout Indiana. We celebrated these outstanding students in a face-to-face Commencement on May 8.

• Four students addressed the mental health needs of children, youth or adults.
• Substance use disorder intervention and program development were the focus of two students.
• Five students provided services through organizations delivering hospice services, needs assessments, and discharge planning in a rural hospital.Other students led efforts with HIV prevention and case management, resource navigation and education for individuals diagnosed with cancer, and health and wellness programming for those seeking to improve their lives.
• The Department of Child Services in five counties hosted eight students who responded to child abuse and neglect allegations and provided assistance with family reunification or achieving permanency for children in need.
• Educational and personal support and provision of resources for preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school students and their families were the focus for four students.
• Case management and planning of supportive social, educational, and recreational activities for older adults were achieved by two students.
• The Youth Opportunity Center hosted eight students who assisted youth in residential placement to meet their goals and re-enter their communities.

• One student each devoted time in the following areas: encouragement and support for single mothers attending college; navigation through the legal system and recovery for individuals who are victims of crime; legal aid for vulnerable populations including older adults, LGBTQ+, and veterans; interventions for adults with cognitive and physical disabilities; equine assisted therapy for individuals with physical, mental and emotional disabilities; resource generation for individuals experiencing homelessness; and funding allocation and planning to address education, health, and financial stability for community residents.
• Three students were instrumental in delivery of community-based services for children and youth who benefit from peer interaction, advocacy, and relationship building.

New field education partners this semester include: Addictions Coalition of Delaware County, Indiana Legal Services Inc., Step-Up Inc., Sunrise Therapeutic Riding Center, Take Back Control, United Day Care, Westfield High School.
