The Top 100 Student Awards celebrate those who truly embody Beneficence at Ball State University.<\/p>\n<p>In this series, we\u2019re proud to highlight Teachers College and secondary education students selected for this recognition, an inspiring group of future educators already making an impact.<\/p>\n<p>Next in the series is Abigail Best, a senior majoring in Music Education with a minor in Multicultural Education, whose passion lies in building meaningful connections through music.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2837\" src=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/04\/30131605\/img_8307-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/04\/30131605\/img_8307-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/04\/30131605\/img_8307-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/04\/30131605\/img_8307-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/04\/30131605\/img_8307-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/04\/30131605\/img_8307-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>A Passion Rooted in Connection<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>For Abigail, education is about more than teaching content, it\u2019s about connection, advocacy, and growth.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI want to be an advocate for students, and I believe that building connections through music is a unique, and effective way to do that while also providing students with important life skills in communication, human connection, and more.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Through music, she sees an opportunity to help students develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\">Why Ball State? A Community of Educators<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Abigail chose Ball State because of the people, specifically, the faculty who helped shape her journey.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe music education faculty at Ball State are all incredible educators and people.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2835 alignleft\" lasting impact on her experience.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI am very thankful to be a member of music education community at Ball State!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\">Hands-On Learning and Meaningful Experiences<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>One of Abigail\u2019s most memorable experiences has been working with young musicians through a unique partnership opportunity.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMy favorite experience at Ball State has been the opportunity to work with the Youth Symphony Orchestra through the partnership program.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Through this experience, she has gained valuable, real-world insight into music education while helping students grow in their own musical journeys.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2834\" src=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2026\/04\/30131551\/IMG_0423-300x219.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"219\" Classroom<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Abigail has also found a strong sense of belonging through her involvement on campus.<\/p>\n<p>As a member of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) Ball State chapter, she\u2019s built connections that go far beyond academics.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey have truly become my family here at school.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\">Looking Ahead: Inspiring the Next Generation<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Abigail is ready to step into the classroom and make a difference.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAfter graduation, I plan to teach middle school orchestra in a public school.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Her goal is clear: to create a space where students can learn, grow, and connect through music.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2836 alignleft\" and get to know as many future colleagues as you can, they will likely become some of your best friends!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She emphasizes that these connections can shape both your college experience and your future career.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\">Finding Balance<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Outside of academics and teaching, Abigail finds time to recharge and stay grounded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI practice yoga!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\">A Future Fueled by Passion<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>With a strong foundation in music education and a deep commitment
