\"\"When Theresa Jameson started her master\u2019s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood at Ball State University, she had a clear goal: to grow as an educator and position herself for leadership. What she didn\u2019t expect was how much personal transformation would come along with it.<\/p>\n

From developing research skills to finding her voice as an advocate for children and families, Theresa\u2019s graduate journey was both empowering and rewarding\u2014and it’s already paying off in her career.<\/p>\n

We caught up with the 2025 graduate to reflect on her time at Ball State, her advice for fellow educators, and what\u2019s next in her professional path.<\/p>\n

Q: What motivated you to pursue a master\u2019s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Theresa: <\/strong><\/span>I love education, and pursuing this degree was also a personal goal. I knew I would eventually leave the classroom and go into administration, and I wanted to be prepared. I knew this degree would support that vision and give me the tools I needed to lead.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Q: What\u2019s something you\u2019re proud to have accomplished or experienced during your time at Ball State?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Theresa: <\/strong><\/span>I learned how to set up and complete solid research, which was a big step for me. But more than that, I learned how to listen to different perspectives\u2014from parents, coworkers, and administrators. Most importantly, I realized I want to advocate more for children and families, both inside and outside of the school setting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Q: <\/strong><\/span>What advice would you give to other early childhood educators considering a graduate degree?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Theresa: <\/strong><\/span>Believe in yourself! You have what it takes to complete this next step. Yes, it\u2019s hard work\u2014but it\u2019s so satisfying when you reach the finish line. You grow in ways you don\u2019t expect, and you get to look back and say, \u201cI really did that.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Q: <\/strong><\/span>How has your new degree already impacted your career?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Theresa: <\/strong><\/span>It\u2019s made a huge difference. I\u2019ve already received job offers, and at my current job, I got a raise and a bonus! I also feel more confident negotiating financial offers and positions. It\u2019s helped me realize the value I bring to the table.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Theresa\u2019s story is a powerful reminder that investing in your education is also an investment in your future, your confidence, and your capacity to lead.<\/p>\n
