A proud Hoosier and first-generation college graduate, Dr. Cooper\u2019s educational journey began with a desire to help every child gain access to the support they need to thrive.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI believe education opens minds, hearts, and paths for individuals,\u201d she says. \u201cIt&#8217;s essential to give all kids equitable access to resources and opportunities. A Mission That Matters<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Dr. Cooper chose Ball State because of its strong impact on P-12 education across Indiana and its focus on working professionals.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBall State makes the greatest impact in educating P-12 teachers and leaders in the state,\u201d she shares. \u201cIn my department, we work with current teachers and leaders to advance their careers through our online graduate programs, while they&#8217;re working full time. That&#8217;s not an easy path, but incredibly valuable\u2014not only for the individuals, but for their school districts and kids in our state.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She also points to the welcoming culture as one of the most meaningful parts of her role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people at Ball State routinely demonstrate that Indiana is one of the friendliest places in the country. President Mearns and all of the leadership take time to get to know faculty and make it a welcoming place where we feel like we matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2352\" src=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2025\/04\/17231143\/Beth-Cooper-2023-Graduation-Procession-close-up-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2025\/04\/17231143\/Beth-Cooper-2023-Graduation-Procession-close-up-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2025\/04\/17231143\/Beth-Cooper-2023-Graduation-Procession-close-up.jpg 571w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Research Rooted in Experience<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Drawing from her background as a superintendent and principal, Dr. Cooper\u2019s research focuses on timely topics that support school leaders and student success.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cRight now, I&#8217;m pursuing research in three P-12 educational leadership areas: (1) technology for school leaders, specifically AI policies, (2) trends for superintendent candidates, and (3) policies to support gifted and advanced learners. I connect my research to my areas of expertise and look for opportunities to support educational leaders and students. Often, I tie my research to policies for the current climate.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ba0c2f\">Guiding the Next Generation of Leaders<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Dr. Cooper finds energy in preparing future educational leaders for the challenges and opportunities ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis field is never boring\u2014we&#8217;re always moving forward toward continuous improvement, innovations, and equity for students and staff. There are and will continue to be a lot of opportunities to make a significant impact in this field in a variety of roles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She encourages students to make meaningful connections and follow their passions.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cCommunicate with your peers and professors to enhance your experience and improve your network. Believe in people and have hope for the future. Follow your passion to find your best opportunities. Earning a doctorate was not even on my radar.
