\"\"Since its inception in 1972, Elementary Education Overseas\/England (EDEL-O\/England) has been at the forefront of revolutionizing pre-service teacher education. Grounded in the belief that international teaching and travel experiences are essential for professional development, this program offers a unique blend of classroom learning, hands-on experience, and cultural exploration.<\/p>\n

\"\"Participants in the EDEL-O England program have the chance to experience teaching in local primary schools, learning from British educational experts and embarking on organized trips throughout the United Kingdom. Research has shown that such experiences not only enhance one’s appreciation for diversity, but also cultivate a deeper understanding of cultural nuances, crucial skills for navigating the increasingly diverse landscape of modern education.<\/p>\n

\"\"In addition to immersing themselves in British culture, students also complete a practicum in a British primary school, earning credit for courses such as EDEL\/EDRD 300 or EDEL\/EDRD 350. EDEL-O in London- Elevating Learning Beyond Borders<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"\"Building upon the success of the EDEL-O England program, the EDEL-O program takes place in London, which offers students a unique opportunity to explore elementary education beyond the confines of the classroom and across the globe.<\/p>\n

Led by esteemed faculty members, these high-impact courses are taught internationally, often during summer sessions or full semesters. In June 2024, a group of Ball State students embarked on a five-week study abroad experience focused on Elementary Education in the vibrant city of London, England.<\/p>\n

Living in a new nation taught Brittany vital lessons about flexibility, resilience, and independence.<\/p>\n

\"\"Klarysa Hawrot, another 2019 participant of the program also had glowing remarks about the experience.<\/p>\n

“The program impacted me because you don’t get this experience and this kind of connection with the kids any other time.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She points out the significance of recognizing and accepting cultural differences in the classroom, which not only improved her efficiency as a teacher but also enriched her as a person. She praised the trip’s supportive professors and companions for helping her grow and become a better educator and individual.<\/p>\n
