Teaching with Passion and Purpose

For Sarah Bueter, teaching is a family tradition and a personal calling. A Bluffton, Indiana native and current junior at Ball State University, Sarah is majoring in Secondary Math Education and is eager to continue preparing for her future classroom.

“I want to be an educator because I have so many family members and role models who are current or retired teachers,” she says. “I’ve always had a passion for teaching and being around kids! I love creating connections with students and helping them learn to be successful in whatever they do, in or outside of the classroom.”

Sarah is a proud recipient of the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship, a renewable award that provides up to $10,000 per year for four academic years to high-achieving Indiana students who commit to teaching in the state for five years after graduation.

From the Field to the Front of the Classroom

Sarah’s high school years were filled with dedication and leadership. She was deeply involved in marching band and now serves as the head colorguard director. She also devoted 13 years to dance, participated in Student Council, was inducted into the National Honor Society, and took part in Campus Life.

Her experiences in leadership, performance, and teamwork have prepared her to bring energy, creativity, and structure to her future math classroom.

Why Ball State? A Perfect Fit

Ball State felt like the right choice for Sarah for several reasons.

“A lot of my family members graduated from BSU and loved it,” she says. “I love being on a smaller campus that allows me to create a relationship with professors.”

She’s excited to return to campus this fall, looking forward to the environment and those “late-night study sessions in Robert Bell.”

Faith, Fitness, and Friends

Outside the classroom, Sarah finds balance through her involvement in Union Chapel’s Young Adult Ministry in Muncie, which she calls her favorite part of the week. “It allows me to refocus and connect with my friends,” she says. She also enjoys working out, spending time at the gym, and making spontaneous stops at 7 Brew.

And when she gets the chance? “I love going to the beach and sitting in the sun,” she says.

Committed to Connection and Growth

With her strong work ethic, family roots in education, and dedication to helping students succeed, Sarah is poised to make a meaningful impact on Indiana classrooms.

Welcome back to Ball State, Sarah—we’re proud to support your journey!
