Inspiring Confidence and Kindness Through Education
For Tionna Hall, becoming an educator means more than teaching. It means making a lasting impact. A proud native of Merrillville, Indiana, Tionna is heading to Ball State University to double major in Elementary Education and Special Education, driven by a deep belief in the power of learning and individuality.
“I want to inspire young children to stay determined and to keep being themselves,” she says. “I had amazing experiences during school, and I want to make the same impact on others.”
Tionna is a recipient of the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship, which awards up to $10,000 per year for four academic years to high-achieving students who commit to teaching in Indiana for at least five years after graduation.
Finding Harmony in Learning and Friendship
A violinist since sixth grade, Tionna participated in orchestra from 6th through 12th grade, an experience she treasures for the friendships and memories it brought her. It taught her the value of practice, patience, and teamwork, qualities she’ll carry with her into the classroom.
Why Ball State? It Felt Like Home.
When it came time to choose a college, Ball State stood out.
“I felt comfortable and safe in the environment,” Tionna explains. “I love everything about the community.”
She’s excited to begin this new chapter and looks forward to “gaining new friendships and continuing to learn more every day.”
Simple Joys, Big Smiles
Tionna enjoys life’s quieter pleasures: going for walks, coloring, doing word searches, and spending time with friends. She’s also an avid collector of plushies. “I have a big plushie collection that continuously grows,” she shares with a smile.
Rooted in Joy and Purpose
Tionna’s passion for education, paired with her warm and encouraging spirit, will make her the kind of teacher who inspires confidence, resilience, and joy in her students.
