One of the many important services offered by the University Libraries is Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Simply put, ILL provides access to content from libraries across the state and nation, and around the world to support student learning and faculty research at Ball State.
On March 16, 2023, around 12:49 PM, the 1 millionth transaction was processed through ILLiad, the Libraries’ interlibrary loan solution. The 1 millionth transaction was a borrowing request for an article from Harvard Educational Review. The first transaction in the ILLiad solution was on September 2, 2003.
An ILL transaction is when the Libraries borrow or lend a physical item (such as a book or DVD) or an electronic item (such as an article). Most Ball State collection materials can be loaned to students, faculty, and researchers at other libraries. And a worldwide network of libraries will lend material to Ball State students and faculty through the interlibrary loan service.
