University Libraries provides students and faculty with essential access to reservable study and meeting spaces for a variety of academic needs. Even through a pandemic, the demand for these rooms has remained unwavering. In fact, in the last academic year rooms reservations approached 76% of where they were before the pandemic, a tremendous recovery that evidences the importance of access to reservable rooms for student and faculty success. It is important to note that users are also able to utilize rooms when they are available without making a reservation. However, students’ ability to reserve a room so they can ensure access to the spaces and tools needed to meet their academic needs is central to student success.
For the Fall and Spring semesters in academic year 2022, we calculated that roughly one out of every four students on campus utilized our spaces through the room reservation system.
The data indicates that the utilization of study and meeting spaces is an essential service that the University Libraries provide to the Ball State Community. So, as you look to the start of the new academic year, make sure you get your University Libraries room reservations in the books.
