IRDS is delighted to welcome three outstanding interns, Hanna Brenner, James Galliher, and Mel Jones, to the Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS) office!

Meet Hanna Brenner

Hannah Brenner is a dedicated second-year graduate student in the Sociology department. Originally from South Bend-Mishawaka, she moved to Muncie in 2019 to pursue her undergraduate studies. She is enthusiastic about her internship with IRDS, aiming to complete her Institutional Research Certification. Hannah is eager to collaborate with colleagues at IRDS, expand her professional network, and engage in a wide range of hands-on learning experiences that will deepen her understanding of institutional research practices.

Meet James Galliher

James Galliher is in his third year of the educational psychology PhD program and is close to completing his master’s degree in quantitative psychology and the Institutional Research Certificate. Originally, from Anderson, IN, James has a unique academic background that includes a bachelor’s degree in web design and interactive media, followed by a master’s in media arts and science. His evolving interest in institutional research led him to Ball State and the EdPsych program, where he has developed a passion for using data to support decision-making. James looks forward to contributing to ongoing projects and hopes to transition into a full-time role with the team after his internship

Meet Mel Jones

Mel Jones is a third-year part-time graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Sociology and a graduate certificate in Institutional Research. Originally from Middlebury, Indiana, Mel has spent the past 25 years in east-central Indiana and currently resides in Muncie. Passionate about quantitative research, Mel views institutional research as one of several career paths being explored. Mel is excited to be part of the IRDS office this semester, hoping to sharpen research skills and gain deeper insights into the field while contributing positively to the team’s ongoing projects.

The IRDS office is equally enthusiastic about supporting Hannah, James, and Mel on their professional journeys. As interns, they will gain exposure to Advanced Analytics and Reporting, Collaboration and Infrastructure, and Operational Excellence frameworks that drive institutional improvements. Our team is committed to mentoring them, providing meaningful projects, and fostering a collaborative environment where they can thrive.
