Ball State EPSO faculty members recently volunteered for Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana. The non-profit organization has been around since 1983 and is a member of Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in America.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Laura Means, a P<\/span>roject Manager of Enterprise System Analytics for Ball State EPSO, was one of the volunteers at the Muncie Mall tailgating event. A typical tailgate event for Second Harvest Food Bank consists of handing out food to those who struggle with food security. Means showed up bright and early at 9:30 am with the rest of the department and handed out food until noon.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always a good thing to help out the community and it always helps us to see other people in need,\u201d Means said. \u201cI think it\u2019s important to serve any time we can.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Means says she volunteers frequently at the Muncie Soup Kitchen and tries to volunteer monthly.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The EPSO Department is a great example of using volunteering as a team building exercise. The team made memories and bonded with each other while using their volunteer hours as work hours.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Ball State faculty can use their work hours to volunteer if signed off by their supervisor.
