While many Information Technology employees have a fast, reliable internet connection at home, some do not. If you have a slow or non-existent internet connection at home, there are several alternatives available to you. One option is the “xfinitywifi” wireless network by Xfinity\/Comcast.<\/p>\n

As we’ve noted on the Keep Teaching and Working web page<\/a>, Xfinity\/Comcast has opened up their “xfinitywifi” wireless hotspots to anyone who wants to use them, even without an Xfinity internet plan. You can connect to the “xfinitywifi” wireless network on your device for free for the foreseeable future. Xfinity has more information available about this on their website<\/a>, where you can also find a searchable map of all “xfinitywifi” hotspots.<\/p>\n

Xfinity customers can extend this network<\/h3>\n

In addition, if you are an Xfinity\/Comcast customer and have an internet plan, you can help increase the available “xfinity” wireless network by enabling a WiFi Public Hotspot for your account. This does not use your personal WiFi network and does not affect your bandwidth or require that you share your password<\/strong>. It simply extends the public “xfinitywifi” WiFi network.<\/p>\n

To enable this, log in to your Xfinity account online and click on your Settings<\/strong> tab and scroll to the section titled WiFi Public Hotspot. <\/em>Click the Edit<\/strong> link to enable the public hotspot.<\/p>\n
