Isaac Rogers, a Marketing major from Shipshewana, serves as the LaGrange County Ambassador.
Isaac was drawn to the program because it allows him to discover new things about LaGrange County and make new memories along the way. “I like discovering new things in the county and sharing my favorite parts with my friends,” he says. His most memorable moment so far as a County Ambassador was participating in Ball State Day at the Statehouse, where he and fellow ambassadors were recognized with a resolution. “Then we came home and had another recognition with the chamber of commerce and visitors bureau,” he adds, recalling the pride he felt representing his community.
Isaac chose Ball State because of its strong academic reputation and its proximity to home. That decision has opened the door to countless opportunities, both in and outside the classroom. On campus, Isaac has embraced involvement and leadership, which he says has broadened his college experience significantly. “Getting involved has widened my experience to more than just a classroom education. I’ve been able to gain knowledge in way more than just my major,” he explains.
His advice to fellow students considering leadership roles? Say yes. “I would advise students to never say ‘no’ to opportunities in college. You’re able to learn so much when involved in many different things.”
Outside of his studies and ambassador responsibilities, Isaac lives for adventure. He enjoys running, biking, swimming (especially in triathlons), backpacking, photography, videography, disc golf, scuba diving, and just about any unique experience he can find. When he’s back home in Shipshewana, you’ll often find him at a show at the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center or grabbing breakfast at Country Corral.
Looking ahead, Isaac is focused on building a future as a business owner, using his marketing background and leadership experience as a foundation. With a passion for community, a drive for discovery, and an eagerness to grow, Isaac is poised to make a meaningful impact long after graduation.
