We are highlighting all of the great work that our graduate assistants perform around our campus by featuring the nominees for the 2022 Graduate Assistant of the Year Award. This award is coordinated by the Career Center, which works with the Graduate School to pick the winner of the award. We were so impressed by all of the nominees that we are going to feature them on our blog. Congratulations to all of the nominees and to this year’s winner, Taylor Fudge!

Taylor Fudge, recipient of Ball State’s 2022 Graduate Assistant of the Year Award

For the 2021-2022 school year, Taylor worked as an Assistant Residence Hall Director for North Hall. As the assistant residence hall director, Taylor worked in collaboration with residence hall directors to supervise, assist, and mentor undergraduate resident assistants, desk staff, and academic peer mentors. Taylor executed a wide range of duties in a demanding position, like directly overseeing daily housing operations, managing administrative functions and facilities, and working to foster an equitable and inclusive space in her residence hall community. Her list of tasks also included serving as a resource to students, handling crisis situations, policy enforcement, serving on committees, teaching a course, and putting on events and programs. Taylor was nominated by Sean O’Melia, the Residence Hall Director for North Hall. Sean said this about Taylor, “Taylor has been what anyone would possibly want out of a Graduate Student. She has a wide variety of skills and traits that would make her an asset in any position that she is put in. She is compassionate, energized, dedicated, and an innovator. She can handle a countless variety of tasks, has outstanding communication skills on many different topics, and consistently goes beyond every expectation.”
