International Student Success
Our International Student Success team is making incredible strides in expanding awareness of resources and building a welcoming culture of belonging for our international students! We’ve introduced an International Student Journey Map to help students navigate their experience at Ball State, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way. The Cardinal Launch Pad, a comprehensive extended orientation and Canvas course, provides invaluable tools and information to set students up for success, while our Weekly Cultural Exchange Programs foster cross-cultural connections across campus.
This fall also marks the successful launch of the Benny Buddies program, helping international students connect with domestic students for friendship and support. We’re also excited to announce the introduction of Halal options in Tally Dining, with plans for further expansion to meet diverse dietary needs. The International Student Arrival Wish List has been a tremendous resource for ensuring students have essential items upon arrival. All of this is made possible through key campus partnerships with University College, SFS Financial Wellness, Dining Services, and DSOL. Plus, don’t forget to mark your calendars for International Education Week from November 18–22, where we’ll celebrate global diversity and learning!
Study Abroad
The Study Abroad office is celebrating some exciting wins that are transforming the global learning experience for our students! We’ve successfully launched the inaugural BSU-In Puebla, México
program, where 26 students and 4 faculty members from the Modern Languages and Classics (MLC), Health Sciences (HSC), and Honors College are currently exploring
rich cultural and academic opportunities. Additionally, our BSU-In Alcalá, Spain program is fully enrolled, with faculty from Geography, MLC, and Sociology leading the way. Looking ahead, the Fall 2025 program will take students to the dynamic city of Seoul, South Korea, expanding our global reach even further!
But the wins don’t stop there! With our new partnership with USAC (University Studies Abroad Consortium), we are expanding the geographic availability of programs, focusing on Asia and Latin America. This shift also emphasizes place-based learning in local communities over traditional global metropolises, offering students more immersive and transformative experiences. Plus, through Asset-Based Advising, we’re empowering students by focusing on
their strengths and cultural assets, ensuring a more inclusive approach to study abroad.
As a member of The Forum on Education Abroad, we’re also investing in faculty development with workshops scheduled for Spring 2025.
