Get to know our board members! Each month, the Foundation will be featuring three of its esteemed board members for you to get to know a little bit better. Below are some fun facts as well as a peek into what each of these board members do in their professional careers.

Marj Hiner (1996-2004)

Marj is a proud graduate of Ball State University, which is a place that will always be a part of her heart. She loved serving on the Foundation Board because it gave her a way to give back to the university that gave her so much. Marj loves getting to relive memories and be in contact with other alumni all while donating her time to serve Ball State.

Marj expressed that if she could live anywhere in the world, it would be her current home near family and friends in Indiana. Marj’s favorite dessert is an old-fashioned cream pie. Additionally, Marj stated that her favorite quote is “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra,” which was attributed to Jimmy Johnson.

Don Dumoulin (2014-Present)

Don Dumoulin is presently a dedicated member of the Ball State Foundation Board. He stated that getting to witness the commitment the other board members have towards Ball State is incredible and encouraging. He also stated that “it is terrific to be around a group that is dedicated to the university and is actively striving to make it stronger.”

Currently, Don is the owner and CEO of Precise Tooling Solutions, a company that provides plastic injection molds for a variety of purposes. If Don could live anywhere in the world, he would choose to live on Lake James in Northern Indiana where his family has vacationed for 59 years. At the family cabin, his kids and grandkids join him to enjoy the lake and quality family time. His perfect day involves spending time with his three grandchildren; Grace, Jackson, and Emma. Don’s favorite dessert is cherry pie.

Michelle Ryan (2021-Present)

Michelle has spent the past two years serving as a member of the Ball State Foundation Board. She loves learning about the amazing things that current and past students have accomplished and the steps the university is taking to better the future generation of students. She also loves reconnecting with other Ball State Alumni.

During her professional career, Michelle worked in human resources for Baxter Healthcare and was responsible for several business units and worked on mergers and divestitures as the business developed. Michelle stated that her dream place to live would be in her vacation home on a mountain in Park City, Utah where she and her family enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, crossing skiing, and more. Her perfect day would involve a full day of skiing with her husband, two sons, and daughter-in-law. She would end the day with a good book and a nice glass of wine.
