Check out all the amazing good news they have to share!<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #800000\">Faculty Good News\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Prof. Sean Lovelace\u2019s<\/strong> Hybrid Essay <a href=\"https:\/\/bigother.com\/2019\/03\/14\/how-to-begin-purple-bra-prompt-as-metaphor-hiss-kiss-howl-of-dogs-of-the-falling-clouds-roiling-roiling-sarah-by-sean-lovelace\/\">\u201cHow to Begin: Purple Bra, Prompt as Metaphor, Hiss\/Kiss\/Howl of Dogs, of the Falling Clouds, (roiling, roiling\u2026)\u201d<\/a> nominated by <i>Big Other Magazine<\/i> for Best Of the Net 2019 anthology, Sundress Publications.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Rani Deighe Crowe&#8217;s<\/strong> short film <em>Heather Has Four Moms<\/em> was accepted to PERLEN &#8211; Queer Film Festival Hannover in Germany, Detroit Shetown Film Festival, Some Prefer Cake Lesbian Film Festival in Bologna, Italy, Yofifest in Yonkers, NY, Alberta International Women\u2019s Film Festival in Edmonton, Canada, and LesFlicks Queer Cinema in London.<\/p>\n<p><em>Heather Has Four Moms<\/em> will be screening in the \u201cBest of\u201d Women Over Fifty Film Festival tour around\u00a0 Scotland, Ireland, England, and Wales.<\/p>\n<p>The short film Rani directed from <strong>Prof. Kathryn Gardiner\u2019s<\/strong> script, <em>Welfare Check<\/em>, has been accepted to the Gary International Black Film Festival in Gary, Indiana and Urban Mediamakers Festival in Georgia, and Twin Cities Black Film Festival in Minneapolis, MN.<\/p>\n<p>Rani\u2019s screenwriting adaptation assignment published on the peer reviewed EDIT Media (Equity Diversity &amp; Inclusion in Teaching Media) website. http:\/\/www.editmedia.org\/teaching-materials\/<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emily Rutter<\/strong> published \u201cThe Creative Recuperation of \u2018Blind Tom\u2019 Wiggins in Tyehimba Jess\u2019s <i>Olio <\/i>and Jeffery Renard Allen\u2019s <i>Song of the Shank<\/i>\u201d in the Fall issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/melus\/article-abstract\/44\/3\/175\/5552469?redirectedFrom=fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i>MELUS<\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Along with colleagues Dr. Emily Hodge (Montclair State University) and <strong>Dr. Serena Salloum<\/strong> (Ball State University), D<strong>r. Susanna Benko<\/strong> continues to research curricular resources in secondary English Language Arts and ways that state departments of education support teachers through curricular resources.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Benko and her colleagues have two articles recently accepted for publication.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The changing ecology of the curriculum marketplace in the era of the Common Core State Standards&#8221; will be published in <i><a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/epdf\/10.1007\/s10833-019-09347-1?author_access_token=ZgpNgEnAtau5DQwBrp5kiPe4RwlQNchNByi7wbcMAY6JFyz7aN8fZQ91f5622N2tTAWMyBx56Gx7y2dIEP_qoO1-Ua_LLH1_JAWZ61jYQ1bLH70A4B3uGbUuShunqoQmHbaMMYpEkCw4XtEH2_Ndmw%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Journal of Educational Change<\/a>, <\/i>and can be read online ahead of print.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tracing states&#8217; messages about Common Core instruction: An Analysis of English\/Language Arts and close reading resources&#8221;, was accepted for publication in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcrecord.org\/Content.asp?ContentId=23019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i>Teachers College Record .<\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Michael Begnal\u2019s<\/strong> review of Ailbhe Darcy &amp; SJ Fowler, Ciar\u00e1n O\u2019Driscoll, and Anatoly Kudryavitsky \u2014 titled \u201cFission\/Fusion: Surrealism Now\u201d \u2014 appears in the latest issue of Poetry Ireland\/\u00c9igse \u00c9ireann\u2019s magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poetryireland.ie\/publications\/trumpet\/current-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i>Trumpet<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Begnal\u2019s translation of a poem by Gabriel Rosenstock, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/RI-n42UnUZ0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cConair an Cheoil\u201d<\/a> (from Irish to English), has now been set to music by Garth Baxter and sung by mezzo-soprano Christine Thomas, with Andrew Stewart on piano.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mai Kuha<\/strong> and <strong>Elizabeth Riddle<\/strong> presented the following in August:<\/p>\n<p>Paper:\u00a0 Mai Kuha and Elizabeth M. Riddle presented a paper entitled \u201cThe Social Construction of Public &#8220;Apologies,&#8221;\u00a0 at the 15th International Cognitive Linguistics Conference, Nishinomiya, Japan, August 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Poster:\u00a0 Mai Kuha and Elizabeth M. Riddle presented a poster entitled &#8220;\u201cApologies by Individual Citizens for Political Situations\u201d\u00a0 at the 15th International Cognitive Linguistics Conference, Nishinomiya, Japan, August 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #800000\">Student Good News<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Maggie Sutton<\/strong> recently won the Perham Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded in memory of Dr. Bernadette H. Perham, Professor of Mathematical Sciences at Ball State University for 16 years. Dr. Perham was a pioneer in breaking down the barriers to achievement for women and girls in all disciplines. The Perham Scholarship supports the pursuit of excellence by female students now and into the future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #800000\">Alumni Good News<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>We just learned that <strong>Nicholas Subtirelu<\/strong> is an Assistant Professor in Linguistics at Georgetown University.
