to make faculty research and writing more visible to students and colleagues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event has grown in popularity over the years and is now a recurring tradition within the department, boasting a new lecture series each semester.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;color: #800000\">Take 3 will be taking place on <strong>Friday, September 13th<\/strong> <strong>at 4:30 PM in 361 Robert Bell<\/strong>. <\/span><\/h2>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;color: #800000\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/2423791217858262\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RSVP and tell us if you&#8217;re coming<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;color: #800000\">Ben Bascom: \u201cTimothy Dexter\u2019s Perverse Properties\u201d<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-16129 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180005\/Picture1-300x273.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"235\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180005\/Picture1-300x273.png 300w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180005\/Picture1.png 339w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 235px) 100vw, 235px\" \/><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsu.edu\/academics\/collegesanddepartments\/english\/connect-with-us\/faculty-staff\/faculty\/bascom-benjamin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Bascom<\/a>\u2019s talk will focus on \u201ca dude in the early years of the United States who wanted to be called \u2018Lord\u2019 Timothy Dexter because he aspired to be aristocratic.\u201d\u00a0 Parts of his talk will focus on, \u201cDexter\u2019s hairless dog (which he traipsed about Newburyport, MA), wooden statues of George Washington that he had built and decorated around his yard, and wigs getting thrown around.\u201d So, Ben\u2019s talk will be about \u201cdrag (yes, that\u2019s drag) and campiness in the early United States.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;color: #800000\">Peter Davis: \u201cyou know, more poems\u201d <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16130 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180044\/Peter-Davis-300x200.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180044\/Peter-Davis-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180044\/Peter-Davis.png 338w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 234px) 100vw, 234px\" \/><\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsu.edu\/academics\/collegesanddepartments\/english\/connect-with-us\/faculty-staff\/faculty\/davispeter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter Davis<\/a>, a poet who thinks of himself as a reverse detective, will be readin<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">g poems\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">that involve \u201cplenty of animals, some colors, and a real sense that the world is too much with us (or not with us enough, depending on how you look at it).\u201d Instead of solving mysteries, Professor Davis will be \u201cmaking mysteries and getting all sorts of tangled up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;color: #800000\">Morgan Leckie: \u201cHushed Subjects: Rhetorical Whispering and Reproductive Justice in the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-16131 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180123\/Morgan-Leckie-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180123\/Morgan-Leckie-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180123\/Morgan-Leckie-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/09\/03180123\/Morgan-Leckie.png 323w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/>United States\u201d<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsu.edu\/academics\/collegesanddepartments\/english\/connect-with-us\/faculty-staff\/faculty\/leckie-morgan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morgan Leckie<\/a> will be talking about Rhetorical Whispering and its involvement in reproductive bodies. She says, \u201cFrom the materiality of slave Rose\u2019s embroidered cloth sack to the anonymous pre-Roe Call Jane abortion network, people with uteruses have long used hushed, decentralized, and resilient tactics of communication in order to challenge capitalist and patriarchal state control over their reproduction and parenthood. However, to date, one form of resilience that has gone unnamed and under-theorized, but that is highly common and powerful, is what I have named rhetorical whispering.
