Read on to learn more!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000\"><b>Faculty<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Prof. Molly Ferguson<\/strong> published her article, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/eprint\/eiFR3CMaWgpWfgC8sdZq\/full?target=10.1080\/10436928.2019.1561127\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c\u2018I retract that bit&#8230;\u2019: Hypermasculinity and Violence in Martin McDonagh\u2019s films\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Literature, Interpretation, Theory<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for the first of two special issues with the theme \u201cViolent Feelings\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Prof. Michael Begnal<\/strong> has two new poems in the February 2019 issue of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anti-Heroin Chic<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. They are titled \u201cSpun\u201d and \u201cCrimson Clouds\u201d and can be read\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/heroinchic.weebly.com\/blog\/poetry-by-michael-begnal\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Prof. Emily Rutter<\/strong> was named the Ball Brothers Foundation Honors College Faculty Fellow for 2019-2021. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Prof. Rani Crowe<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Her short film, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Heather Has Four Moms<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, has recently \u00a0been selected to screen by the Festival Feministes in Montreal; Reelout Film Festival in Kingston, Canada; Immaginaria International Film Festival of Lesbians and Other Rebellious Women in Rome; Amarcort Film Festival\u2019s \u201cAround the World in 80 Shorts\u201d in Rimini, Italy (hometown of Federico Fellini); FINDECOIN Independent International Short Film Festival in Venezuela; The Colony Short Film Festival in Marietta, Ohio; \u00a0Beeston Film Festival in Nottingham, UK; the Louisiana International Film Festival in Baton Rouge; Oxford International Film Festival in Oxford, UK; and the Los Angeles Women\u2019s International Film Festival.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><i><\/i><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Heather Has Four Moms<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> won the Best LGBT Short Film Award at South Texas Underground Film Festival.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rani\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Heather Has Four Moms<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> half-hour pilot television script (inspired by her short film) was a Quarter Finalist selection at the Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Competition. The quarter finalists represent the top 20% of over 1,200 screenplays submitted.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rani\u2019s short-short film, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Test,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">was accepted to the Berlin Flash Film Festival.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rani\u2019s 10-minute one act farcical play about disability in theater, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Why You Can\u2019t Put a Wheelchair on the Stage<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, was published in <a href=\"https:\/\/sarreview.ucr.edu\/why-you-cant-put-a-wheelchair-on-the-stage\/\">Santa Ana River Review<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Prof. Silas Hansen\u2019s<\/strong> essay, \u201cFifteen Things I\u2019ve Noticed While Trying to Hit 10,000 Steps Per Day: Muncie, Indiana Edition,\u201d was accepted by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hobart<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and will be published in late spring\/early summer. His <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/waxwingmag.org\/index.php#top\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">first issue as Nonfiction Editor of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Waxwing<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was also published in February 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Prof. Laura Romano<\/strong> has been awarded a fellowship from the Virginia Ball Center for Creative Inquiry for the Fall 2019 semester. Her project: \u201c\u201dMakerspaces: Opportunities for Cultural Identity in Post-Industrial Cities\u201d will investigate the \u201cmaker\u2019s movement\u201d and \u201cmakerspaces\u201d through oral history observations and ethnographic observation. Laura will be partnering with the Muncie Arts and Culture Council in this project. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Prof. Mary Lou Vercellotti<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Her research about English learners\u2019 self-correction was published in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">TESL-EJ.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Read the article <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tesl-ej.org\/wordpress\/issues\/volume22\/ej87\/ej87a3\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here.<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She also collaborated with Dr. Julie Griffith (Speech Pathology and Audiology) and her graduate student Hannah Folkerts to research interactive learning spaces. Their paper \u201cWhat\u2019s in a question: A comparison of student questions in two learning spaces\u201d was published in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences and Disorders<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The issue is entitled &#8220;Theology of Marilynne Robinson in a Postsecular Age.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000\"><b>Alumni<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Brandon Buechley<\/strong> (BA in CW 2015) has been promoted from Editorial Assistant to Assistant Editor at Alpha Books, DK Publishing, a division of Penguin Random House, in Indianapolis.
