Save the Date: Friday, March 15, 2024<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Ball State English Department is proud to present <\/span>Practical Criticism Midwest<\/span><\/a>.<\/span> For the third time, the PCM Conference will be presented as a hybrid event in order to foster the inclusion and accessibility of our presenters and attendees and to practice the health and safety measures consistent with Ball State\u2019s <\/span>Cardinals Care Pledge<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Spring 2024 theme is <\/span>Places and Spaces: Blueprints for Community.<\/b> With this theme, we invite students to consider how the communities they participate in are shaped both physically and socially. Communities may be environments that are conducive to creativity, safety, and growth, but they may also uphold barriers that prevent such flourishing. We encourage students to consider the active forces that curate the communities around them. Though this is an English Department event, we encourage all majors to share the work being done in their disciplines as it relates to this theme.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to <\/span>submit a proposal<\/span><\/a> to present their scholarly work, including creative pieces, research studies, and teaching materials. Students may participate in a panel reading or poster presentation and may submit panel proposals as an individual or group (more instructions about how to submit as a group on the <\/span>submission form<\/span><\/a>). Each presentation is 15 minutes, and panels are followed by a question-answer session moderated by a faculty member.<\/span><\/p>\n
