When I arose this morning,
\nI could not see my face.
\nThe mirror showed the tiled wall
\nbut nothing in my place.
\nSquinted, stretched, squirmed;
\nStill an empty space.
\nI would have puzzled forever
\nbut I had not the time to waste.<\/p>\n

The subway line snails along
\nlike blood oozing from a cut.
\nI swerved through strangers,
\nran to catch the next one out but
\nas I hurriedly met the Main line,
\nthe doors went barreling shut.
\nI could not stop, I passed on through
\nthe doors but did not feel–“What!?”<\/p>\n
The employees roamed the hallways:
\nmy maggots squirmed into gear.
\nI barked to the new intern;
\nHe pretended not to hear.
\n“The boss must be gone today!”–
\nthen a lively round of cheers.
\nI yelled into his smirking face,
\n\u201cBut I\u2019m standing right HERE!\u201d<\/p>\n
Back to my grave apartment,
\nI found the maid cleaning meek.
\nI watched her steal my antique watch,
\nslipped it into her purse so sleek.
\n\u201cPut that back or I\u2019ll fire you!\u201d
\nBut her eyes gave me no peek.
\nAnd when she passed into my room,
\nthe walls echoed her loud shriek.<\/p>\n
Curious to her big scare,
\nI passed right through the walls.
\nI saw myself lying down,
\neyes glazed open like a doll.
\nAs I looked upon my corpse,
\nand then realized, I was appalled:
\nThough I arose this morning,
