The Development Team at the Digital Corps is <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW166135148 BCX0\">largely to<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW166135148 BCX0\">\u00a0thank for that! The team programs applications, websites, and other projects for entities across campus. Presently, the team is working on an exciting project that Cardinals will be able to access from anywhere on campus: an app for Charlie\u2019s Charter.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW166135148 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2642 alignleft\" style=\"margin-top: 8px;margin-bottom: 8px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.bsu.edu\/digitalcorps\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2026\/06\/Charlie-Charter-Mobile-Booking-3-152x300.png\" alt=\"Ride is on the way screen from Charlie&apos;s Charter application\" width=\"200\" height=\"395\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Charlie\u2019s Charter provides free transportation for students on campus and is notable for its <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hours of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> operation, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">which cover times when university buses are no longer r<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">unning. To request a ride, students currently have to make a phone call; there is no application <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">available to make the request. However, the Development Team, in collaboration with the Design Team, is working to address that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With this new application, students will be able to request a ride, specifying pickup and drop-off locations <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the number of people in their <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">group. Additionally, students will be able to leave feedback about their riding experience, similar to Uber. Drivers will also benefit from this new app, as it will enable them to accept and view ride information to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ensure safety and efficiency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Development Team had to approach this project differently from other projects, particularly because the<\/span>\u00a0deadlines and specifications of the application necessitated careful planning.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1164\" src=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/14200239\/drewh-1200x1200-1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Drew Heiss\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/14200239\/drewh-1200x1200-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/14200239\/drewh-1200x1200-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/14200239\/drewh-1200x1200-1-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/14200239\/drewh-1200x1200-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/14200239\/drewh-1200x1200-1-600x600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/14200239\/drewh-1200x1200-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Drew H<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eiss, a Staff Developer, explained, \u201c<em>Usually projects tend to evolve as we build them, but for this one, I intentionally planned it on paper and through digital diagrams ahead of time.<\/em>\u201d He also mentioned that the complexity of the project prompted the team to work with new topics and systems, which positively impacted team dynamics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2653\" style=\"width: 200px;margin-bottom: 8px\" src=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2026\/06\/12185630\/Fall25-Anya-IMG_2606-2.jpg\" alt=\"Anya Wappenstein\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2026\/06\/12185630\/Fall25-Anya-IMG_2606-2.jpg 200w, https:\/\/bsu-wpe-blogs.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2026\/06\/12185630\/Fall25-Anya-IMG_2606-2-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Anya Wappenstein, a Development Team member, described the project\u2019s impact, &#8220;<em>This is a large project that includes all aspects of app development, backend and frontend, so learning how to make a system that works together fluidly has really helped spur growth in our team.<\/em>\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Charlie\u2019s Charter app should be available for download starting in the fall semester.
