It starts with small questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Why does this work? <\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>What if we tried something different? <\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>How could this message connect more clearly?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Digital Corps, curiosity drives experimentation. It shows up when you test a new editing style, rethink a layout, or dig deeper into a client\u2019s goals. The best ideas rarely begin fully formed, and they usually take collaboration to take them from good to great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.bsu.edu\/digitalcorps\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DC-Headshots-Laura_2-1000x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2562 size-full\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Laura, that wondering doesn\u2019t stay in her head for long. \u201cI really try to write down any and all ideas whether it\u2019s a sketch or a word or a feeling,\u201d she says. \u201cI like to look at old projects if they relate to whatever I\u2019m working on.\u201d Creativity, for her, is about collecting pieces, even if they\u2019re unfinished ones.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, inspiration isn\u2019t always natural. Sometimes it has to be created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cSometimes I really just have to force myself to do <em>something<\/em> to warm up my brain so that I can at least make some sort of progress.<\/strong> <strong>Usually that works to jumpstart the process for me,\u201d says Laura.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even small action is enough to get momentum going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another powerful source of creativity is collaboration. Within the Corps, different majors, backgrounds, and interests allow for diverse perspectives. Creativity is often less about a lightning bolt of inspiration and more about collective momentum, one idea building on another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But when she\u2019s feeling stuck, Laura has learned that small shifts make a difference. This year, that shift has been yoga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI started yoga this year. It makes me concentrate on everything happening internally. I can completely clear my mind and focus on my breath and my movements,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019ve noticed that on the days I do yoga my mind really starts turning out designs and ideas.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What Laura is experiencing\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0just personal.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ed.stanford.edu\/news\/study-finds-walking-boosts-creativity?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Studies from Stanford University<\/a>\u00a0have\u00a0found that walking and other forms of physical movement can boost creative thinking and help overcome creative blocks, even when the movement itself\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0directly related\u00a0to the creative task.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The further she gets into her designs, the more she realizes creativity\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0just mental. \u201cI\u2019ve had to get out of my head and get into my physical body the further I get into my designs.\u201d Clearing her mind physically helps her think more\u00a0clearly,\u00a0creatively.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other times, finding creativity means looking outward. \u201cWhen I feel stuck, I try to look outside of myself for inspiration.\u201d Sometimes that means doing creative things like coloring, where you only\u00a0have to\u00a0make small decisions. Looking at nature or architecture gets her really inspired. She likes to look at things in a completely different field than whatever\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0working on. And sometimes, for her, it means doing non-creative\u00a0things,\u00a0reading\u00a0or just having conversations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Laura, creativity&nbsp;doesn\u2019t&nbsp;always look dramatic or groundbreaking.
