Everyone needs a little extra help from time to time. It is important to know the resources available to you in case you ever need to use them. If you need a little extra help outside of class in your language courses, check out these five resources.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1. Your professor<\/h3>\n

Your professor won\u2019t bite. In fact, they\u2019re here to help you. Each professor is required to hold office hours. This is the perfect time for you to visit them and ask questions. Don\u2019t know when your professor holds office hours or where their office is located? Check your syllabus! If you can\u2019t make their office hours, you can always email them any questions or arrange an alternative meeting time.<\/p>\n

2. The Learning Center<\/h3>\n

The Learning Center<\/a> on campus\u00a0offers tutoring for many courses and areas of content.<\/p>\n

The following language classes have tutors:<\/p>\n

French – 101, 102, 201, 202
\nGerman – 101, 102, 201, 202
\nJapanese – 101, 102, 201, 202
\nSpanish – 101, 102, 201, 202<\/p>\n

Tutoring is free for all students! To schedule your appointment, call The Learning Center at 765-285-3780.<\/p>\n

3. Your classmates<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re feeling a little lost in class, or just want to study with someone else, you can always ask a fellow classmate for help. Your classmates are going through the same material with you at the same exact time, which makes them a great resource. Studying with someone else in the class is beneficial for both of you, and you may even make a new friend or two!<\/p>\n

4. Language clubs and other organizations<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re looking for some extra practice, or you want to meet others who are interested in the same language(s) as you, then a language club or organization is the perfect resource! By joining a language club, you not only get to meet others who may be able to help you practice, but you also get to have fun experiences with some new friends. Ball State has many language clubs that participate in all sorts of activities! You can find a list of language clubs and organizations here.<\/a><\/p>\n

5. The Department of Modern Languages and Classics Main Office<\/h3>\n

If you need help in a language course, but don\u2019t know where to go, you can always go to the Department of Modern Languages and Classics\u2019<\/a>\u00a0main office, located in room 178 of North Quad. Office staff will help direct you to the best resource available for your questions and concerns. Can\u2019t make it to the MLC office? No problem! You can call the office at 765-285-1361.<\/p>\n

The Department of Modern Languages and Classics\u00a0offers courses in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Arabic<\/a>, Classical Cultures, and Language Teaching.<\/p>\n
