Dr. Justin Murray<\/a>\u00a0joins the Ball State\u00a0Department of Mathematical Sciences<\/a>\u00a0as an Assistant Teaching Professor.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your journey to Ball State?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I completed my PhD in mathematics at Louisiana State University in 2024. Before that I completed a master’s program at Ball State in 2019. My bachelor\u2019s degree was obtained in 2017 at Indiana University Kokomo.<\/p>\n\n\n

What are your research and teaching interests?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

My broad research interests include low-dimensional topology, contact geometry, and knot theory. More specifically, I investigate Legendrian submanifolds in contact 3- and 5-manifolds and fillings of these submanifolds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are some of your goals for your first year here?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I love teaching and seeing the growth in my students. I will be teaching Math 125 in my first semester back here and look forward to helping my students feel more comfortable around math.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you like to do in your free time?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I enjoy golfing, playing games (board games, card games, and video games), and spending time with friends and family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
