Dr. Cameron Doerr<\/a> joins the Ball State Department of Mathematical Sciences<\/a> as an Assistant Lecturer.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

What is your journey to Ball State? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I received my BA in mathematics from Illinois College in 2020 and my MS in mathematics from Ball State in 2023. After taking a year away from Ball State, having worked in the insurance world, I decided to come back for this teaching position for a couple of reasons. While getting my MS here, Ball State came to be a welcoming home that I wanted to return to, and the work that I get to do \u2013 teaching classes, helping students, impacting their lives \u2013 that I had experienced as a graduate assistant here felt more fulfilling than what I had done in the last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your research and teaching interests?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

My research interests are in non-linear PDEs, and my teaching interests are in foundational mathematics where I believe I can have an impact on students of all disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are some of your goals for your first year here?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I hope to get better at teaching, make some new friends with the faculty, and enjoy teaching math. I hope I can help with the freshman sequences in my role on that committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you like to do in your free time? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In my free time, I like to go biking, hiking (sometimes having to travel a little way away to find new places to explore), and trying new restaurants. I do semiweekly game nights (card games, video games, and board games) with friends in the area, too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
