\"Dr.<\/p>\n

The College of Health is represented admirably in international matters by the work of Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Gerstein. He has been a Fulbright Scholar twice (2014, 2019), and a Fulbright Specialist once (2025) for varying research, service, and training projects in Hong Kong, China, and most recently he did a three week project in Islamabad, Pakistan hosted by the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Area Study Center for Africa, North and South America.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t know Larry, he\u2019s one of the warmest individuals you will ever meet, and genuinely cares about Ball State students, faculty, staff and people everywhere.
\nHe\u2019s been our expert in residence as Director of the Ball State Center for Peace and Conflict Studies<\/a> since 2006 and is also the George and Frances Ball Distinguished Professor of Psychology-Counseling serving in the Department of Counseling Psychology, Counseling, and Social Psychology.<\/p>\n

His recent Fulbright appointment was three weeks packed full of lectures, presentations, workshops and discussions on a variety of topics including research methodology, counseling, peacebuilding and cross cultural understanding.<\/p>\n

One of his presentations was for the United States Embassy in Pakistan, on the Psychology of Prevention, Understanding and Countering Violent Extremism. Among other presentations were to the QAU Department of Defense & Strategic Studies, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology Psychology Department and more for a total of 17 presentations. He also participated in 13 other academic based activities, attended 7 cultural events, and he co-hosted a virtual program for Alumni of the University Partnership (QAU-BSU) follow up grants that involved 11 other Pakistani Universities.<\/p>\n
