  1. Where is your hometown?<\/li>\n
  2. I am originally from Medina, Ohio, in Northeast Ohio.<\/li>\n
  3. Tell us about your educational background.<\/li>\n
  4. I received my B.A. in Psychology from The College of Wooster, a small liberal-arts college in Wooster, Ohio. After undergrad I went on to pursue my Ph.D. in Social Psychology at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.<\/li>\n
  5. What first interested you in counseling (social?) psychology?<\/li>\n
  6. My undergraduate mentor was a social psychologist who inspired me to pursue academia. I became passionate about social psychology due to its relevance in addressing different social problems and inequities.<\/li>\n
  7. What brought you to Ball State?<\/li>\n
  8. I was excited about being able to teach and mentor students at the graduate level. I was especially interested in the department\u2019s unique emphasis on both social and counseling psychology.<\/li>\n
  9. Please describe your role within the department.<\/li>\n
  10. My position involves both teaching and research expectations. I look forward to mentoring and working with students in the department\u2019s various graduate programs \u2013 come chat!<\/li>\n
  11. What are your research and teaching interests?<\/li>\n
  12. My research interests center around motivation, stereotyping, and identity: how do our identities shape the goals we pursue and how we perceive others? My teaching interests focus on social psychology, especially research design in social psychology and how we can use social psychology to understand the world around us.<\/li>\n
  13. Outside of academia, what are your favorite hobbies?<\/li>\n
  14. I love to bake, watch horror movies, and play games with friends. I\u2019m also a huge dog lover!<\/li>\n
  15. What food could you not live without? *<\/li>\n
  16. My current fast-food obsession is Panda Express.<\/li>\n
  17. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? *<\/li>\n
  18. I would love to travel to Mexico to experience the culture and food!<\/li>\n
  19. What\u2019s something about you that people would be surprised to know?<\/li>\n
  20. I love to throw Secret Santa parties. My last one party was TLC themed (the music group, not the TV channel).<\/li>\n
  21. How do you practice self-care?<\/li>\n
  22. Cultivating friends and hobbies outside of work has helped me deal with the stress that can come from an academic job (mostly peer-review!).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
