The Office of Student Success started a new awards recognition for students this spring, called the Red Feather Awards.
\nNick Atlas, Director of Student Services said, \u201cThis is an esteemed recognition celebrating students who exemplify the Beneficence Pledge\u2014academic excellence, community service, and leadership.<\/p>\n

This distinguished honor will be awarded to one outstanding undergraduate and one graduate student, individuals who not only excel in their academic pursuits but also make significant contributions to their communities and demonstrate extraordinary leadership.\u201d
\nNominators were asked to submit a 500 to 1500 word statement highlighting their nominee\u2019s achievements in Academics, Community Service and Leadership, as well as a personal reflection on how their experiences shaped their aspirations and future goals. To be considered for the Red Feather award, nominees must exhibit excellence in:<\/p>\n

Academics <\/strong>The nominee must have an exemplary academic record, demonstrating a strong commitment to a pursuit of knowledge. High academic standing, research contributions, or other achievements will be considered part of the evaluation process.<\/p>\n

Community Service <\/strong>A commitment to community service is a pillar of the College of Health. Nominees should have a history of active engagement in volunteerism, advocacy work, or initiatives aimed at improving the lives of others. This may include involvement with local charities, mentorship programs, or efforts that address social challenges.<\/p>\n

Leadership<\/strong> is a defining characteristic of outstanding students. Nominees must demonstrate a capacity to inspire and influence others through leadership roles within student organizations, extracurricular activities, or community initiatives. This includes serving in formal leadership positions or creating new initiatives.<\/p>\n

All nominations were reviewed by a College of Health Faculty and Staff Panel, and they made the final choices.\u00a0 Congratulations to the very first Red Feather Award winners.<\/p>\n
