The College of Health is excited to announce two significant developments that will expand healthcare access, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhance student learning opportunities across East Central Indiana.
Teachers College Clinics Join the ICCs
Beginning this fall, Teachers College’s Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (CASD) and Psychoeducational Diagnostic and Intervention Clinic (PDIC) will join the Interprofessional Community Clinics (ICCs).
This partnership brings together clinical services from the College of Health and Teachers College under one roof, making it easier for individuals and families to access comprehensive care in one convenient location with dedicated patient parking.
“The ICCs has developed much of the infrastructure needed to support sustainable clinic operations, including administrative support, scheduling, billing, compliance, technology, and other operational systems. We can leverage our existing clinical framework to allow their teams to focus on service delivery, student learning, and community impact. This was a strategic decision centered on growth, collaboration, and long-term sustainability.” said Dr. Blair Mattern, Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and Professor of Audiology
The transition has been a collaborative effort between the two colleges to ensure uninterrupted services while creating new opportunities for interdisciplinary education and patient care.
“The biggest goal is to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining the outstanding services and training experiences our clinics already provide. Beyond that, I am excited about the opportunities this partnership creates to strengthen collaboration across disciplines, expand experiential learning opportunities for students, and continue increasing our impact across East Central Indiana.” said Dr. Shannon Dieringer, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Strategic Initiatives, Teachers College; Professor of Special Education and Applied Behavior Analysis
Primary Care Comes to the Healthy Lifestyle Center
The growth doesn’t stop there. This fall, the Healthy Lifestyle Center will launch Primary Care Services, providing community members with a new option for comprehensive primary care delivered by experienced Family Nurse Practitioners.
Whether you need preventive care, management of chronic conditions, annual wellness visits, or treatment for everyday health concerns, our providers will offer patient-centered care while supporting Ball State’s mission of educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Growing to Better Serve Our Community
The Interprofessional Community Clinics currently provide approximately 16,000 appointments annually at our campus location, along with an additional 10,000 community outreach encounters through the Healthy Lifestyle Center. With the addition of CASD, PDIC, and Primary Care Services, Ball State is expanding access to high-quality healthcare for even more individuals and families throughout East Central Indiana. At the same time, these new services create richer clinical experiences for students preparing to become tomorrow’s healthcare professionals.
This growth reflects Ball State University’s continued commitment to improving community health through integrated clinical care, education, outreach, and collaboration.
