Social Work Students with Representative Dale DeVon.
Social Work Students took a Field trip to the State House on April 2, 2025 to educate students about and expose our students to the legislative process. In total, 27 BSW and MSW social work students attended. Multiple social work faculty and staff helped plan the trip and donated financial resources to increase accessibility for students; six were able to attend: Tiffany Anton, Lindsay Bennett, Jessica Curd, Kerri Hogue, Mary Provence, and Sandy Shelly. They were able to meet with Representative Dale DeVon of District 5 on the floor of the House of Representatives. A panel of BSU alumni who work at the State House either as staff or lobbyists from both sides of the aisle spoke to our students to expose them to career possibilities. They received firsthand details of how to apply for a variety of internships with the Indiana General Assembly to advance their career opportunities in macro social work practice.
