Ball State University’s Counseling Practicum Clinic has established a telehealth counseling hub within the Randolph County Health Department. The Counseling Practicum Clinic can deliver services to individuals in Randolph County remotely Mondays through Thursdays from 9a.m. to 3p.m. and Fridays from 9a.m. to 12p.m.
“The main goal of the project is to fill a service gap in Randolph County,” Director of Counseling Practicum Clinic Lina Burkhart said. “It was really evident that across the lifespan in Randolph County, there is a need for more accessible and affordable mental health services.”
Ball State’s Counseling Practicum Clinic offers in-person and telehealth individual, couples, and family counseling to people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds. They provide a range of services for individual, couples, and family counseling for a variety of social, emotional, and/or behavioral concerns including ADHD, anxiety, behavior issues, and more.
“I’ve spent a lot of time lately encouraging people to get out of their little office space and provide services in the real world,” Department Chair of Counseling Psychology Dr. Sharon Bowman said. “This is an example of our opportunity to be social change agents and advocates. It also allows students to help us think creatively about how we can help communities thrive.”
This new initiative through Ball State’s Counseling Practicum Clinic is available at no cost for Randolph County citizens and aims to make counseling more accessible and convenient. To make an appointment, call 765-285-8160.
Tammy Pruitt, School Liaison Nurse at the Randolph County Health Department said, “I am very ready to begin this wonderful journey with all of you at Ball State.”
