Awards
- Dr. Nimish Valvi, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, was awarded a 5-year CDC collaborative grant to improve the health and the care of people living with congenital heart defects.
- Mrs. Lisa Beck, Senior Lecturer of Health Science, received a 2024 Canvas Innovator Award for her Canvas design submitted as part of the Canvas Design Jam. Mrs. Beck was one of three faculty to be selected for this award in a competition organized by the Division of Online and Strategic Learning.
- Dr. Ronald Dolon, Professor of Social Work, was honored with the Rosalie Wolf Memorial Elder Abuse Prevention Award at the Institute of Violence, Abuse, and Trauma Summit in San Diego, California this past August.
- Robin Cooper, Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing, who received a 2024 Sigma Phi Epsilon, Indiana Gamma Chapter, Outstanding Faculty Award at their awards ceremony held on 9/22/2024. Annually the chapter recognizes three members of the Ball State faculty for their outstanding teaching and work with students.
- Kinesiology faculty members Andrea McMurtry, Shannon Powers, Sheli Plummer, Clark Dickin, and Eric Klosterman, were selected by members of the Ball State Women’s Soccer Team to be honored at the September 19, Professors on the Pitch event.
- Dorice Hankemeier, Associate Chair School of Kinesiology, Associate Professor of Athletic Training and Graduate Athletic Training Program Director, was recently named a Distinguished Fellow in the Athletic Training Academy of the National Academies of Practice. The National Academies of Practice is comprised of several healthcare disciplines which focus on improving the healthcare system through interprofessional collaboration dedicated to supporting affordable, accessible and coordinated quality care for all. Dorice was selected because of her teaching and scholarship focus in interprofessional collaborative practice and education and will be officially inducted at the NAP Annual Meeting and Forum in Washington, DC this spring.
- Staci Mannella, Counseling Psychology Doctoral Candidate, was featured in a Community Champions video on the Team USA website for Paris 2024. View Video

- Dr. Bryant Keirns, Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics and Graduate Program Director of Nutrition and Dietetics, had a recent publication accepted in American Journal of Physiology: Heart and Circulatory Physiology: Biomarkers of Intestinal Permeability are Associated with Inflammation in Metabolically Healthy Obesity, but not Normal-Weight Obesity
- Alexis Quirk, Dietetics Graduate Student, presented at the IUSM Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases research symposium “Postprandial Cardiometabolic Parameters in Older Adults with “Normal-Weight Obesity”
