Dr. Sharon Bowman is the Department Chair of the Department of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology, and Counseling and Professor of Psychology Counseling. She provides clinical supervision of the counselors in training, including supervising the master’s student intern.
Bowman has been fully licensed as a psychologist since 1995 and licensed as a clinical mental health counselor since 2000. She has been board certified in counseling psychology since 2015.
Bowman’s career aspirations began when she was young. Bowman says, “I have known since childhood I wanted to help people. I decided on psychology in middle school, and on counseling psychology in particular in my senior year of HS. I’ve never veered from the path.”
There are a lot of favorite moments with Bowman’s job, one being watching trainees increase their self-confidence. “I am most excited to see someone go from ‘what should I do?’ to ‘I’ve decided to do this, and here’s why.”
In her free time, Bowman likes to crochet mostly shawls, wraps and scarves. She also loves to bake and travel.
Thank you Sharon for your hard work and dedication!
