The College of Health Dean’s Office is so excited and proud to announce we have added a Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice to our Team
Justin Tobyas has joined the College of Health as the Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice. He is a certified and licensed athletic trainer and Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences Teacher with over 16 years of clinical experience working with rural and underserved populations. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic training. He attended graduate school at Ball State University, where he completed a Master of Arts degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology in 2007 and earned a doctorate degree in Adult, Higher, and Community Education in 2020.
In his previous position within the College of Health as Director of the East Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (ECI-AHEC), Justin worked to build relationships between educational stakeholders and community groups in order to create unique high quality clinical and didactic experiences for health professions students throughout the ECI-AHEC region. He is very much looking forward to continuing to build on these successful programs in his new roles with the Healthy Lifestyles Center and the College of Health Leadership Team.
The Director of IPE, is a steward of activities that create an environment for discovery across disciplines. Students in the College of Health majors will be empowered to work in collaborative, team-based settings to deliver patient-centered care. In prior years the College has hosted Standard Patient Simulations, Poverty Simulations, Medical Improv sessions and more yet to come.
