Emilee Fetters is an advanced standing, full-time MSW student at Ball State. She recently graduated from Manchester University with her BSW. Fetters is starting her MSW practicum placement serving inmates at the Madison County Jail in Anderson. Going into this practicum placement, Fetters is looking forward to learning the needs of this population, how to best utilize different therapeutic modalities, and how to best serve incarcerated clients. During her practicum placement, she will conduct one-on-one and group therapy, engage in program development for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, and create resources for therapists to use while working with inmates. In addition to these practicum responsibilities, Fetters is looking forward to providing a listening ear to inmates. She brings prior experience from her BSW practicum placement at a domestic violence shelter. Fetters expressed her excitement for turning course concepts into practical applications, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and motivational interviewing approaches. She aspires to obtain her PhD in Criminology.

Quralyn Milroe is a BSW student at Ball State and is starting her practicum placement at Rush University Medical Center. The medical center serves individuals from the South and West sides of Chicago. Milroe serves patients who recently received release from the emergency department. Her work consists of conducting initial assessments with patients, ensuring they are prepared to leave the emergency department and have access to necessary resources. Milroe serves as a bridge between the emergency department and long-term support offered at Rush University Medical Center. Going into this practicum experience, she is looking forward to the opportunities for personal growth, advocacy, and policy work in an interdisciplinary health setting. Milroe will put her Social Work education into practice as she understands and applies systems theories when working with patients, practices empathy and active listening, and utilizes her interviewing skills. In the future, she aspires to either be an emergency department social worker or practice therapy as a License in Clinical Social Work.
