We Fly Drones

As members of the College of Communication, Information, and Media community we are more than faculty, staff, students, and alumni. We are creators, innovators, and leaders in our fields. Therefore, we need a space for our community to connect and grow.

""

CCIM Alumni Salon

In the first event of its kind, CCIM partnered with the Ball State Alumni Association to launch the CCIM Alumni Salons on August 12, 2021. We proudly present, We Fly Drones at Ball State Launch Fishers. “We are taking a forward step in supporting our alumni relations. The CCIM Alumni Council brings the heads of each unit’s alumni groups together so that they can share ideas and collaborate on events like this,” said Dean Paaige Turner in her opening remarks.

Professor Tim Underhill, along with recent graduate Shyanne McFadden and senior Paul Novosel, demonstrated drone technology. In addition, a few alumni even took the controls to test their piloting skills! “Being able to attend the alumni event where I could showcase everything about drones was super fun! After taking the drone classes we have available here, I was certified to fly commercially. Therefore, these skills helped me network with a lot of alumni, as well as answer the many insightful questions they all had about drone operation!” said Novosel.

""

Everyone had a chance to reconnect and enjoy a campus favorite of Greeks. We’d like to thank Ball State alumni Rafael Domenech ’99 and Rob Sevening for sponsoring the meal. “It was nice to catch up with department alumni. I learned about what they do, how they do it, and how our curriculum has evolved over the years. It solidified that we are headed in the right direction,” said Brian Hayes, Senior Lecturer of Journalism and Assistant Department Chair.

What They Offer

""

We have quite the robust alumni network and Ball State Fishers Center is the perfect hub! It is a lifetime learning satellite center. They offer training programs to individuals and organizations interested in improving their skillsets to fulfill their purpose and passion. Ball State Fishers Center even provides talent assessments and interpretation. For example, they offer programs such as CliftonStrengths, Entrepreneurial Mindset Profile, and the EQ-i 2.0 and EQ-i 360. If you are interested in hosting an event at the Ball State Fishers Center you can email Project Coordinator, Kayla Coates.

If you’d like to get involved with future alumni events, contact Associate Director of Alumni Engagement, Molly Burkhardt.
