\"\"Paul Lewis<\/strong>, a principal at LTL Architects, is a professor and associate dean at Princeton University School of Architecture, where he has taught since 2000.\u00a0 He received a BA from Wesleyan University and an M.Arch from Princeton University.\u00a0He is also president of the Architectural League of New York and a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome.<\/p>\n

His New York based firm has completed academic, cultural and institutional projects throughout the United States.\u00a0 LTL are the 2019 NY State AIA firm of the year. They have received a National Design Award, have been inducted into the ID Hall of Fame, and have received multiple AIA design awards.\u00a0 LTL recently produced a Manual of Physical Distancing, drawing and making legible the spatial and urban implication of the Covid-19. LTL Architects are also the authors of Intensities (2013), Opportunistic Architecture (2008) and Situation Normal….Pamphlet Architecture #21 (1998). Their most recent book entitled Manual of Section has been translated into five languages.<\/p>\n

The lecture, part of the Ball State University College of Architecture and Planning lecture series, is open to the public.<\/p>\n

Field Day – Introducing Children to the Profession During a Global Existential Crisis and Living to Tell About It<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Jonathon Geels<\/b>,\u00a0<\/b>PLA, ASLA, is principal landscape architect at Troyer Group in\u00a0South Bend, Indiana.<\/p>\n

Geels will be discussing emerging methods to promote career discovery for children, obstacles that under-represented groups face in design professions, and hybrid practice models that emphasize advocacy, activism, and awareness in the profession.<\/p>\n

As a landscape architect, Jonathan focuses on public sites with an emphasis on health, history, environmental and social justice, as well as quantitative performance metrics. His diverse project work includes large sites for healthcare and higher education campuses, district land use and transportation planning, as well as smaller public spaces, streetscapes, plazas, and park systems. Additionally, Jonathon is passionate about urban sociology applications in public landscapes, seeing it as integral to environmental and infrastructure management as well as economic development.<\/p>\n

\nMichael Key<\/strong>\u00a0is vice president of construction operations for Milhaus, an award-winning mixed-use real estate development company based in Indianapolis. He is a graduate of the Ball State Construction Management program, and his talk is part of the Ball State University College of Architecture and Planning lecture series.<\/p>\n

Key will share how his career has transitioned and how young alumni can positions themselves to grow by taking advantage of opportunities. He will also address typical challenges you might face in the working world and how to overcome them.<\/p>\n

An Indianapolis native, Key started his career with Turner Construction where he worked on the Indianapolis Zoo\u2019s International Orangutan Center, multiple healthcare projects, and on the Hinkle Fieldhouse renovations at Butler University. He worked in Tennessee on a mixed use mid-rise project, and then transitioned to Milhaus a little over three years ago. While at Milhaus he relocated to Florida to assist in starting their Florida operations, and relocated back to Indianapolis in 2019 to oversee all construction operations for Milhaus. He is president of the Ball State University Construction Management Advisory Board.<\/p>\n

\"\"Tony Elliott<\/strong>, an architect and an instructor in Interior Design this semester, has titled his lecture \u201cA DESIGN Career or How to Have FUN for 50 Years.\u201d He will discuss his adventurous career and the many twists and turns a design career may follow.<\/p>\n

Elliott has worked all over the world. Projects include the JW Marriott and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, a casino, hotel, and airport terminal in Las Vegas, the US Air Force Academy cadet chapel renovation in Colorado Springs, and the transportation center at Chicago\u2019s O\u2019Hare airport. Overseas, he worked on The Gate on Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE; the Intercontinental Hotel in Libya, BaHa Mar Resort Casino in Nassau, Bahamas, and more. He completed residential evaluations for the hurricane relief effort in the US Virgin Islands of St. Thomas and St. John and is the developer of the iPhone app WALL-IT, a paint and wallcovering calculator.<\/p>\n

Elliott is also the author of\u00a0Sketchbook: Benghazi: \u2018Day of Rage\u2019 through an Architect\u2019s Eyes,\u00a0<\/em>a reflection on working in Libya during violent protests in 2011, the time of the Arab Spring.<\/p>\n
