For\u00a0its owners, the ultra-efficient house is\u00a0designed for long-term comfort and cost\u00a0savings.<\/p>\n

Project Summary<\/strong>
\nThis project is a small multifamily\u00a0residence located in Jamaica Plain,\u00a0Boston, MA. Providing a contemporary\u00a0approach to a historic building typology, its\u00a0six units are marketed towards\u00a0young professionals and small families\u00a0who are seeking a healthier urban lifestyle\u00a0with direct access to recreation and\u00a0amenities.<\/p>\n

Design Strategy and Key Points<\/strong>
\nThe design team focused on the sensitivity\u00a0to context in massing, size, and layout\u00a0replicating a historic triple decker.\u00a0Borrowing the logic and idea of the triple\u00a0decker as a contextual influence, and\u00a0layering a new climate responsive, high\u00a0performance agenda to it. The building will\u00a0enhance the quality of living for the\u00a0residents and the neighborhood through a\u00a0modern, innovative, market comparable\u00a0approach.<\/p>\n

Project Summary<\/strong>
\nThe site for this urban home is in the\u00a0Phoenix Hill neighborhood in Louisville,\u00a0Ky. The immediate context consists of\u00a0small traditional houses built at the turn of\u00a0the century. As the city grows towards a\u00a0more arts-based culture, the appetite for\u00a0progressive design is apparent. The Race\u00a0to Zero Competition provides a basis for\u00a0net zero home construction to parallel the\u00a0cities need for socially and environmentally\u00a0designed housing.<\/p>\n
