Following three women through the trials and tribulations of their lives, “Snapshots”brings the journeys of Hollis, Carol, and Sherry to life at the Cave Theatre on the Ball State University campus, opening on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. Additional showings will be March 20-23 at 7:30 p.m. and March 23 and 24 at 2:30 p.m.
Among attempts at reaching fame, an emotional trial in court, and a plot to move to Russia, the trio encounter their fair share of difficulties to manage from their teenage years into adulthood.
“’Snapshots’ is mainly a monologue play,” director and Ball State junior Talon Reed Cooper said. “You’ll see the women together and thriving, but you will also see them alone and vulnerable, all within a few short scenes.”
Cooper says the narrative lies in the idea that small moments in our lives can have much larger effects later on in the future. Between regular life struggles and ones that may reach a bit outside the realm of normal, the three women persevere together and individually throughout the performance, showing the importance of independence and fellowship alike.
“The audience will follow these women throughout decades of their lives and really form a strong connection with each of them,” Cooper said. “This play is so beautiful and timeless. The women go through battles, some big, some small, but we’re constantly reminded that no matter if you’re 15 or 50, whether you see them once a day or once a year, some friends will always stick around and help you grow and evolve into a better human being.”
